Apprendre le métier d'agriculteur bio : quelles transmissions pour quelles acquisitions?

Abstract : Learning organic farming work, which transmission for which reception? Vocational training and public programs have difficulties to report problems inherent to vocational situations and apprenticeship, particularly in the field of organic farming. This is an obstacle to build common references on competencies development about organic farming practices. What conditions would optimize transfer of professional know-how and development of learners' knowledge and competencies? In this context, the article focuses on social configurations by which organic farmers transfer their working skills and knowledge. With this aim in mind, it characterizes the typical aspects of vocational situations that organic farmers are dealing with and identifies some critical points about mastering those situations. While this first point helps to understand what the major learning issues about professionalization of organic farmers (in activity or becoming) are, we still do not know what the favourable conditions to skill acquisition are. As a response, the second part of the article aims at better understanding what the different social spaces are, where something is transferred and how. Associating both entries in analysing transfer and acquisition processes, the article underlines the importance of the role of institutional schemes that organize transfer relationships and the role of personal commitment in potential effects produced by the interactions.
