Les éleveurs de Montbéliarde au carrefour de l’innovation génomique : entre adhésion et résistance, solidarité et concurrence

Abstract : Genomic selection stands for a main stage in cattle husbandry history. This paper aims to study genomic integration in professional breeding practices and to highlight implications for stakeholders using genomic tools. Interviews realized with farmers, inseminators and breeding managers show to what extent genomic tools are gradually used by farmers through pacts not without doubts and sometimes oppositions. Strong historical connections between farmers and selection companies but also mediation of inseminators lead to mutual commitments which foster integration of this innovation. Sooner or later, genomic selection will come to question the know-how of farmers bringing them far from the living which is at the heart of their work.
